Synopsis

High Concept

A team of eccentric paranormal investigators come to the aid of a failed witch struggling to solve her mother’s murder.

Synopsis

When a retired witch is found murdered in a small New England village, the town sheriff turns to an enigmatic group of investigators known as The Cambridge Paranormal Society. Led by their eccentric founder, Mr. Benjamin Hammerwyck, the society must face off against bizarre creatures and God-fearing churchgoers alike. Along with a struggling graduate intern and a clairvoyant Gypsy, Hammerwyck sets out with his arsenal of unstable paranormal equipment to uncover the mystery surrounding the murder. But when the killer sets its sights on the witch’s estranged daughter, Morgan, the fledgling society is forced to protect her at all costs.

As the young woman struggles to accept her mystical heritage, Hammerwyck and his associates discover the culprit to be a devious little boy; one hell-bent on obtaining the witch’s spells. As the society closes in, the boy manages to summon one final demon; a creature so enormous it threatens the entire coast. After exhausting all of their outlandish methods, the society turns to a reluctant Morgan. With Hammerwyck as her guide, the frightened girl is able to reclaim her birthright and conjure a monster from her mother’s own spell book. In a climactic showdown, the monster defeats the demon, restoring peace to the village and delivering justice to Morgan and her mother.

The Cambridge Paranormal Society is a period monster story with the humor you’d expect from oddballs fighting to save our world. But, more importantly, Cambridge is a story of redemption. Each character faces deep, personal tragedies that they are struggling to repair. A former professor haunted by a tragic accident, a graduate student tormented by his father’s expectations, a lone surviving Gypsy searching for justice, a young woman coping with her personal failures. Alone, the road is daunting, but together they each come one step closer to their own redemption.

Cambridge is intended to be a full color, two issue mini-series targeting the male reader ages 15 to 30. If sales permitted, our story can continue as an ongoing series with further story arcs detailing the adventures of this ever-growing society.
